We didn’t stay at the hotel, so I can’t really review it. The restaurant, though, was amazing. Their pork chops are famous as the best on the island, and I can see why. My friend ordered the butterfish, so I got to try some of that too, and it was delicious. The portions are huge, so sharing is probably a good idea if you don’t have a big appetite.

The food is delicious, the staff are good, and the place has that cozy, familiar feel where everybody knows your name. It’s an original spot with wonderful comfort food. Sadly, it’s for sale, so go eat there while you can.

Even though we got there near the end of the shift, we had plenty of time to enjoy the pork chops and butterfish. The fish just melted in your mouth, and the chips were like my grandmother used to make, with great gravy. Our waitress was diligent and friendly. The sides came out almost right away, so we could snack while we waited for the main course. I’m glad we made it. They’re currently open only Wednesday through Saturday, so plan around that.

It’s a bit out of the way, which is part of the charm. Just good food and good people. Lei and Melia were really warm and friendly. We had the pork chops for lunch, and the portions were huge, they were eye-popping.

My girlfriends and I made a special trip from Honolulu to have lunch here during our little adventure. It was such a delightful, delicious meal, with old Hawaii flavors that felt like stepping back in time. Unforgettable. We hope Manago Hotel stays around!
