Comfort Inn & Suites Carbondale on the Roaring Fork

I booked two nights directly through the website and paid in advance. The rate was about $160 per night, but my card was charged $567. When I called, they promised it was only a hold and said my card hadn’t been charged. At check-in, my husband was told the same thing, then they ran the card again for $363 for the two nights. A couple of days later I called because there were two charges. They basically laughed and insisted there was only one, but both the $567 and $363 charges were real. I waited two weeks to make sure the first wasn’t just a hold. I can confirm I was charged $930 for a two-night stay. I’ll gladly take this review down once they fix it.

Booking the room took 15 minutes on the phone because the person repeatedly couldn’t understand me. When I arrived late, four people were sitting in the lobby drinking tequila and nobody was at the desk. I asked them if they knew where the front desk associate was. One told me to read the sign, which said to call a number to get someone to come up. Nobody answered that number. I called the number I’d used to book, and they suggested paging someone from the phone at the desk. That didn’t work either. After waiting so long, I turned the screen around to try checking myself in. Then one of the people drinking got up and fetched the associate. The associate apologized and said they’d told the group to come get them if anyone arrived. I’ve never had such awful customer service. There was no manager to help, just a drunk person who I assume was filling in while the employee was doing God knows what. I’d recommend the Days Inn right next door.

The room was completely clean, but it had a funky old-sock smell. I’m guessing it was the old carpet, though it wasn’t horrible. Service and location were both outstanding, and breakfast was perfect. I’d stay again.

We arrived around 11:30 at night after booking the cheapest room we could find for that evening. It was a double queen room for my husband and me, but the woman at the desk was ready for us and very nice. She upgraded us to a king suite without us asking. The room was clean, comfortable, and seemed updated. Breakfast had waffles, yogurt, bacon, eggs, potatoes, bagels, and more. We had a great stay and would definitely come back.
