Comfort Suites Downtown Carlisle

We loved the downtown Carlisle location, and the king bedroom suite worked perfectly for two adults and two kids. Pocket doors separate the two areas for adult privacy, while a pull-out couch bed and a TV in each section meant the kids and adults could each watch what they wanted. There's a restaurant and bar on the ground floor. Parking is in a detached garage behind the hotel, but you can't see it from the street. You'll need to drive around the block or take the narrow alley on the hotel's right, which leads straight to the garage.

The room was spacious and had a sitting area, though it was odd that the TV was in the bedroom rather than that area. We were only there for one night, and we'll likely be back next year. The hotel is right in downtown, close to everything we needed, including the Historical Society, St John's Church, and the Carlisle Indian School. The entrance is in the alley, so watch out if someone who can't drive blocks the narrow driveway.

The place seemed pretty clean, and we paid about $100 for a spacious room. Breakfast was good. Parking cost an extra $5.65 for the night, and the pet fee was $20. There might be street parking, although the front desk said there likely wasn't free parking nearby. We had a great experience.

I'd stayed here twice before as a Carlisle native and was excited to book for our big class reunion, especially with the great location and everything in our small town within walking distance. Rooms were blocked for our event. This visit was disappointing, though. The room was sloppily cleaned, the bedding didn't feel fresh, and the front desk, bar, and restaurant staff all seemed irritated and disengaged. What I hoped would be a warm, nostalgic stay missed the mark.
