River Valley Inn & Suites

The pool and hot tub were both great, though the hot tub could use some jets. My kids loved the waffles at breakfast, and my wife and I enjoyed the coffee and the bengals, along with the waffles. The breakfast suited me, and the rooms were very clean. The room started out extremely cold, and my kids were chilly until the heat warmed it up. One pretty big concern: the woman at the front desk fell asleep four times while making our reservation. That didn’t seem professional or appropriate, and it worried me.

My husband couldn’t travel for health reasons, so we tried to cancel the reservation three full days ahead of time. The confirmation email said to contact the hotel within two days for a full refund, but they wouldn’t let us cancel. He said he couldn’t process it because the booking had been made on another site, although the only email we had was from the hotel. Then he said he’d charge our card the next day, knowing we couldn’t travel. He treated our son the same way.

I arrived on a bicycle and was told overnight storage would cost $20 per night. That seemed a bit steep, but I accepted it. For comparison, Super 8 in the next town let me bring a very dirty bike into my room. Good value and a pleasant experience overall.

The pool and hot tub were clean and at a good temperature, so the kids could swim as long as they wanted. Our suite was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and it had two very large TVs. Breakfast was included; the choices were limited but adequate, and the bagels were nice and soft.
