Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge Carlsbad

We came for a two-day couples trip and would love to return for a longer family vacation. Andrew, the manager, answered our questions and had some great suggestions for food and things to do. The staff were helpful and gracious, and breakfast included hot items. The location worked perfectly for us: the beach is across the street, and the restaurants and shops in downtown Carlsbad are an easy walk away. We could stroll into town without being right in the middle of the noise. We also loved sitting on the upper patio to watch and listen to the ocean, and the gas fireplace in our room was such a fun, unusual touch. The hotel has a cool Southern California vibe.

I loved the fire pit and ocean view. They made mornings and evenings feel special, and the location is close to everything while still feeling quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was great, too, and the customer service felt warm and attentive. Parking was the one real snag. The spaces are very tight, especially if you have a larger vehicle, and parking wasn’t complimentary as advertised. It was manageable, though. The Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge in Carlsbad was an amazing place for a relaxing getaway, and I’d happily stay again. 🌊🔥

We switched rooms after the first night, and the staff handled it with no trouble. The rest of the stay was issue-free, and the service is why we’d come back. The location is great. Carlsbad Village has plenty of spots to eat and relax, with the beach right across the street and good coffee shops and eateries about five blocks away. Breakfast is served every morning from 6:30-9:30am. There’s also a small gym with free weights, a stationary bike, and a treadmill.

We paid nearly a grand for two nights, then found out parking on the property costs $20 a day. The staff’s customer service was mediocre, and the only ocean view we saw was from the front of the hotel. Our bedroom faced an alley. We booked a king suite based on the website photos, but they don’t show what you actually get. It felt like a Motel 6 with a kitchenette. The building is old, the bathroom had no ceiling fan, and the shower was tiny and old-fashioned. Save your money and find a better hotel, especially at this price.
