Days Inn By Wyndham Carlsbad

Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable, but it felt dark and not very cozy. Warmer colored bulbs might help. The hotel is near the beach, though not really close enough to walk to the beach or town; a grocery store, gas station, and some restaurants are walkable. It's right by the busy I-5, which is loud. We were on the back side and were glad of it, since I can only imagine how noisy the freeway-facing rooms are. The small pool was there, but we didn't use it. The website advertised free breakfast, but there wasn't any. The fire alarm went off twice around 3 am, and nobody mentioned it at checkout. It was okay for one night, but I probably wouldn't return.

The staff were very nice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. Our room phone was broken, so we couldn't call anyone, even the front desk, and the tub plug wouldn't hold water, so we had to use a washcloth. The website is way off: there's no breakfast, just pastries, the outdoor pool that's advertised as heated wasn't heated, and guests don't have Wi-Fi. There seems to be a lot going on that people either don't know about or don't care to find an answer to.

I look at reviews to see what people say about a hotel's location and its good and bad points. I want somewhere safe, clean, and quiet, with a comfortable bed and great service. This place met all of that for me, and it's become my favorite of the many hotels I've stayed at in San Diego. It's next to the highway, so ask for a room on the other side of the building.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, helped us with everything, and were lovely with our children. Everyone at the front desk was great, especially manager Janet. We had an amazing stay!
