The Cassara Carlsbad, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

The location is a five to ten minute drive from the beach, but definitely too far to walk. Service was good, and the hotel had lots of families with kids, though the rooms felt very basic for a place charging $300 a night. I was quoted $460 with taxes, then got charged another $100 for two nights of parking and a $50 resort fee for amenities. The amenity list seems to stop at the swimming pool 🙃, and the total came to $630.

There was a noticeable odor in our room when we arrived, which made me wonder whether it had been ventilated or checked before check-in. The customer service also felt indifferent from the start. The front desk staff weren’t openly rude, but they seemed disengaged and unwelcoming, far from the hospitality I associate with Hilton. I was also concerned by the “hotel-within-a-hotel” arrangement. The property appears to share space with a code-share or vacation ownership operation, and hotel guests seemed to get different treatment from the owners, who appeared to receive priority access. The listing should explain this setup more clearly before people book. The photos on the hotel profile also gave a misleading impression. The views and room positions shown online don’t match what many rooms actually offer. This stay fell short of Hilton standards, and I hope management takes the feedback seriously and improves both service consistency and transparency.

There are restaurants, fast food places, Starbucks, and even a Cosco nearby. Inside, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, the most complete one we’ve had at any stop. From the moment we walked into the lobby, the staff gave us outstanding attention, and the room was well detailed.

This was our second time at Cassara Carlsbad, and we had another great stay over Valentine’s weekend. They surprised my wife with chocolate-covered strawberries, such a thoughtful touch. Our daughter loves the breakfast, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. A special thanks to Adan Mendoza, who makes us feel at home every time. With Legoland California within walking distance, it’s a great fit for families. We’ll be back!
