Fairfield Inn & Suites San Diego Carlsbad

We keep coming back to this hotel in Carlsbad. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are great, and there are plenty of choices at the free breakfast. We got a room with a sofa, which was well worth it, and both TVs had streaming options. It’s a good fit for couples or families, with a nice, safe area, plenty of parking, a pool, and a gym. The landscaping is lovely, the Carlsbad Outlet Mall and Legoland are nearby, and getting to the 5 freeway is quick and easy.

Breakfast was great, the room was very clean, and it was nice and quiet, without freeway traffic all night. Still, for the price, I had too many issues on my work stay on 02/17, and I wouldn’t come back. The WiFi was finicky and an absurdly slow 6MB in my room, so working was difficult. The gym was tiny, with just one treadmill that was constantly occupied. I also don’t see the need for a parking pass and extra fee when there’s plenty of space. The A/C was louder than normal and didn’t hold the set temperature very accurately.

The location is great, but the stay with my family was horrible. Honestly, it felt like a Motel 6 type of hotel, and we’ll never step foot on the property again unless it’s to use the urinal. The parking lot was essentially a homeless camp, with a white van, a middle-aged man, and his dog. There were coyotes roaming the premises too. Dan was right about the wifi, as someone named Dan said in a review. The whole experience just sucked. My family paid over 180 a night, and I’m upset. I don’t want a refund, I want our time back, LOL. People will go regardless, and maybe your experience will be different, but you get what you pay for.

The hotel is just off the main road, so it’s conveniently central while still being quieter. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and peaceful, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was included, with a good variety of fresh food. I wish the weather had been better so we could enjoy the pool, but we still had a nice stay.
