The location is remarkable, with good access to Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe Mountains NP, and local conveniences like Walmart. There’s a working refrigerator and microwave in the room, so you don’t have to eat out all the time. The reception was super clean, the staff welcoming, the rooms in good condition, and the wifi strong. Most guests seem to be there for work or travel, rather than long stays. As a solo female traveler, that matters to me. One thing to know: a neighbor has a cockerel that likes to crow in the morning. I thought it was a nice local touch when waking up, but bring earplugs if you don’t like that. Good Motel 6.

The receptionist was super cool and told us lots about the area. We needed sheets, though, and couldn’t get them until morning, with no specific time given. There seem to be a lot of regulars living there, judging by all the grills outside the rooms, so expect that if you’re visiting the caverns. The plastic pillows made me feel like I was in jail, and they suck. I guess it was worth the price.

The floors and tub were dirty, and there were bugs on the bathroom floor. The whole place felt disgusting, and I’m scared to sleep in the beds. They charge way too much for rooms this gross. 0/10, would NOT recommend.

For a no-frills place, cleanliness really matters, and this room was filthy. There was dog food on the floor, stains on the tub, door, and mattress pads, and the mattress itself was ripped. The windows were smeared with dog spit, the bed was uncomfortable, and the Wi-Fi was terrible. There were lots of oil field workers staying there, so loud trucks were around, though I know the hotel can't control that. The value was terrible. This was one of the dirtiest hotels I've stayed in.
