The pool and outdoor recreation areas were great, and breakfast was included, though after trying it three times I paid for breakfast elsewhere for the rest of my 15-night business stay. The laundry facilities were available but quite old. I expected more from Staybridge in Carlsbad because it’s part of IHG, the chain my company uses for staff accommodation. The hotel had a mildew-like smell throughout. I suspect it might have been the linen freshener or cleaning products. None of the windows opened, and I got a sore throat about an hour after turning on the air conditioning each time, which made the lack of fresh air especially frustrating over a long stay. On my last day, housekeeping knocked before 10 a.m. despite my do not disturb sign, even though checkout was at 11. I’d avoid ground-floor rooms 110, 111, 112, 114, and 116. They’re beside busy areas, including the fitness center, laundry, and a popular side exit whose door slams. The hotel has a long way to go. I hope they improve ventilation, the smell, and the guest experience.

The free washers and dryers were a real help with kids, especially after long days at the beach and Waterpark, and the hotel felt very family-friendly. We’ve stayed here twice, though we’re not sure we’ll come back again. The room was exceptionally clean, and when I brought in dirty towels or linens, the staff quickly gave me fresh ones. Nahelia led a cleaning team that included Abigail, Venecia, and Sabrina, and they were warm and professional every time we saw them. They greeted us with smiles and made us feel welcome. Nahelia even remembered us from last year, after we’d had a lovely conversation, which felt personal and nice. The young woman with short curly hair who works overnight was also always sweet and welcoming when we came into the lobby or needed help. We didn’t get to enjoy the included breakfast much because renovations were going on and it closed early, but that didn’t spoil the stay. I recommend it for its staff and family-friendly amenities.

The hotel felt more like home than a hotel, and I had a wonderful stay at Staybridge Suites. Breakfast was one of the better hotel breakfasts I’ve had lately, with plenty of good options. The front desk team was friendly and helpful as soon as I arrived. My room was spotless, comfortable, and laid out in a way that made it easy to relax. The location was great, and I felt safe leaving my car in the lot. They were resurfacing the parking lot during my visit, so the walk to the entrance was a bit longer than usual. I’ll be back.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and I appreciated the complimentary food options and amenities. I stayed here while moving to the area. It was a great base for commuting to my new job and exploring while I looked for an apartment.
