Carmel Wayfarer Inn

The common areas felt inviting and were thoughtfully designed, and our room was comfortable and spacious. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which made everything easy from start to finish. For the quality and atmosphere, it was an incredible value. I'd happily stay at Wayfarer Inn again.

It gets the job done, and that's why it works so well for me and my family. The room was nice, though not fancy, and they have options for bigger families. There's a fireplace, it's dog friendly, and it's close to lots of places in Carmel. The staff are friendly.

Great location, but everything else went downhill. The door wouldn't lock securely, the beds were uncomfortable, and the bathroom wasn't clean. I found someone else's hair on a towel. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. Spend a little more for somewhere nicer, or stay in Monterey.

I never spent a night there. I'd booked four nights at Carmel Wayfarer Inn, but left within minutes because the room seemed unsafe and unsanitary. There was visible mold all over the bathroom and a strong mold smell throughout the room, along with a used, unflushed toilet, holes in the walls, and pet hair on the bed. I considered it uninhabitable. The manager, Mike, initially refused a refund despite the health and safety concerns. It was also nearly impossible to reach anyone by phone, and no one was at the front desk when I needed help. An extremely disappointing and concerning experience. I wouldn't recommend the property, especially for families or anyone with health concerns. Update: A few days later, the manager finally approved the refund request, so I'm changing my rating.
