Springhill Suites By Marriott Indianapolis Carmel

I travel for a living, and my experience at SpringHill Suites by Mariott in Carmel Indiana was the worst I've had. There are many hotels within a mile, and I'd suggest avoiding this one. After reading other reviews here, it seems customers have had staff problems before. Please read them yourself. We called the day before to ask for early check-in, and onsite staff approved it. We also added our personal Marriott points then. But when we arrived at 1 pm, the woman who identified herself as GM immediately took a defensive tone. We agreed to return at 3 pm. When we went back into the hotel to ask them to contact us if a room became available earlier, we were told the GM had cancelled our two-night reservation without our knowledge. If we had come back at 3 as agreed, we wouldn't have known staff had cancelled the room. We weren't hostile. If the hotel says otherwise, we'll request front desk audio and video to show the GM's anger. The GM came across as mean and angry. It felt like they may have been overbooked and we were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. I directed my assistant to move all my national bookings away from Marriott until this is resolved. The location is great, but that's the only good thing about this awful hotel. The carpets in the room and common areas are dated and stained, and the room itself feels old. The electrical sockets look like they're about to fall off, and the bathroom seems straight out of the '70s. I felt uncomfortable there, and nothing seemed up to date. I normally wouldn't post a review, but I don't want anyone else to have the same experience. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We were happy with our stay, especially the room's cleanliness and the location. The room was clean, and breakfast was mediocre but worked well for the kids. It was noisy, though there was a volleyball tournament nearby and a lot more children than usual, including teenage boys who can be a bit loud.

Our room still had a few dated things, since they're in the process of updating the rooms, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff were outstanding, especially Harry. They were busy when we arrived, and Harry handled things efficiently and with a friendly manner.
