Stilwell Hotel

We didn't need to move our car all weekend. Everything was within walking distance, and this is a great hotel in Carmel. We'll definitely stay again and recommend it. Our large corner room had a couch area, a bar, and a balcony. The bathroom felt luxurious, with a large soaking tub and separate large shower, and the beds were comfortable. Motion activated nightlights came on beneath the bed and in the bathroom when you got up. The heating and cooling system was new and modern, and it has air conditioning, which is rare. Breakfast is included, with cooked and cold items served on small plates. You can take a tray upstairs, or eat in the breakfast room or on the patios. There are several outdoor spaces with fire pits, and the pizza oven is ready from 4 pm, when cocktails are also available.

I give the hotel 5/5. The breakfast was world-class, with lots of options, nicely displayed, and better than at any Westin or 4 seasons I've stayed in. I'd stayed at the Stilwell before it was renovated, and it was nice enough then, but the renovations are really good. The bathrooms have hot, hot showers, the beds have lights that switch on when your feet hit the floor so you don't bump into things at night, and each room has a good Nespresso machine.

The rooms are nice, with great pillows and super silky sheets, though the mattress has sink holes from use and could do with replacing. The hotel has been beautifully updated and is in a great location. The firepits are welcoming at night, and the breakfast spread is the most amazing.

Stilwell hotel is our go-to when we visit Carmel. Its rooms are beautiful, modern, and spotless, and the staff are great and fun to talk with. It's in the best location, a couple of blocks off Ocean Ave, so it's quiet while still making everything, including the beach, easy to reach on foot. The included breakfast is unique, with all kinds of tasty food served on small plates.
