Sandyland Reef Inn

The view is amazing, and the staff are cooperative. I'd highly recommend staying here for a weekend getaway. The rooms are spacious and clean, with good-quality linens. The washrooms were clean too, and had nice shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. There's also a pool, ice, filtered water, fizzy drinks, and laundry facilities.

It's a reasonable choice for the price, especially for a short stay on a budget. Parking was easy and the location convenient. The room had the basics: a TV, mini fridge, microwave, hair dryer, shampoo, and towels. It felt very basic, with minimal facilities and nothing that stood out. The cleanliness could have been better. Don't expect anything special.

I couldn't sleep with the highway noise just meters away. Traffic was heavy all night, and the room had no soundproofing. With the doors and windows closed, I measured over 50 dB inside in the middle of the night. The AC was even louder than the highway when switched on. There were a lot of strange people around, and the bathroom had dark hair in it. The washing machine takes cash only, and there's no quarter changer. This was the worst accommodation of my three weeks traveling around California. Pay 20 dollars extra and stay in beautiful Santa Barbara instead. You'll regret booking this place.

There was no water in the pool, despite it being advertised. They charged me $10 for dirty towels even though I left the hotel clean. The bus stop right in front is convenient, but avoid the rooms facing the freeway above the front office.
