Comfort Suites Summerville - Charleston

The rooms smelled like mold and mildew, everything was dusty, and there were cockroaches everywhere, especially in the bathroom. We checked our belongings as soon as we saw them to make sure there weren’t any roaches on our things. The front desk guy didn’t even react when my husband said we couldn’t stay, which told me enough. I’ve never stayed anywhere more disgusting. Save yourself the anxiety and find somewhere nice.

The bathroom’s metal surfaces were all rusty, and the couch was filthy and wrecked. The bed felt like a slab, while the only other seat in the suite was a rickety old office chair. The room looked like something from the 70s and reeked of cigar smoke. I usually have good stays at Comfort Inn, but travelers should avoid this poorly maintained spot. I wish we’d left and found somewhere cleaner and more comfortable.

I loved being there because I finally got to spend some long overdue time with my Joshie. Keep going, Joshie! I knew you’d make it. You’re like He-Man, you can’t fail at anything, which is great. I’m so happy you’re back. I told you I’d be here waiting for you to get your bearings and get back on track.

The guy who checked us in was really friendly, though he didn’t mention breakfast or any other amenities. Our room felt dated, with old stinky boots and toenails on the floor, so we asked for deodorizer spray. Breakfast was pretty lackluster, and the beds were much too small. They should have queens instead of doubles, because these were very uncomfortable to sleep in. The bathtub seemed to have been refinished, but there wasn’t even a tray for the hand soap. The walls are so thin we could hear everything from the rooms next door.
