The staff were genuinely wonderful, from the front desk through the kitchen, and my complaint isn't about their courtesy or service. But as someone with a disability who needs an ADA room, I can't recommend Hampton Inn at Carborro. The room was a long way from the elevator, more than 30 yards. Getting there each day left me worn out, and I've never encountered an ADA room at a hotel that required that trek. It was profoundly disappointing, and Hampton Inn/Hilton Corporate/whoever is responsible needs to make sure accessible rooms are close to an elevator, or not call them ADA rooms. Getting to my car was another problem. I was charged $20 for parking but told I could only use the 4th or 5th floor, and that parking elsewhere could get my car towed. That's an unreasonable thing to worry about when you've paid to park. There also isn't an elevator connecting the garage to the hotel, so I had to take my things down to the lobby, then carry them through a parking elevator that reeked of cigarettes and gave me a headache. And the room door had a "handicapped" sign. I haven't heard that term in nearly 20 years, and it's been at least that long since it was considered acceptable. An ADA wheelchair sign, or no sign at all, would be easy to use instead. As a disabled person, seeing it upset me. Some of these issues may be hard to fix, but I can't recommend the hotel to people with mobility issues who need easy elevator access, or to anyone who doesn't want to worry about being towed from a garage they've paid for. It's a shame, because the staff were great.

We went for a concert at Cat's Cradle, practically next door, and staying overnight turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. It's also an easy walk to lots of restaurants and pubs. The room was very clean, had what we needed, and was quiet; we didn't hear anything, and the AC worked well. Breakfast was free and much better than I expected. The service made the stay, too. Both check-in clerks went out of their way to help us, and even the cleaning staff we passed in the hallway were great. The concert being on the same block was extremely handy for my husband and me.

Parking was easy, and the rooms and facilities were clean and comfortable. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. A great place to stay, especially when you're in town for a show at Cat's Cradle. Highly recommend.

The gym has a nice range of weights and other equipment, with plenty of room, plus a small fridge stocked with cold bottled water. The property looks recently updated, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. There's a lot going on nearby at night. One thing I missed on the hotel's website: parking costs extra. It's $20 per night in the garage next to the hotel.

The room was clean, but using it wasn't easy. The door was so hard to open and close that we had to kick it each time. The shower swung between freezing and scalding, the bath fan didn't work, and there were no refrigerators or USB ports in the rooms. The kitchen ran out of continental breakfast food. At the desk, wedding party gift bags were supposed to be handed out at check-in, but weren't. Somehow the two of us were listed as occupying two rooms on our last day, and staff accidentally erased many guests' key cards during their stay, so they had to be reprogrammed. Front desk and kitchen employees were incompetent.
