Nugget Hotel in Carson City

Angeline’s was the restaurant I wanted to try, but it’s only open a couple of days each week for a few hours at a time. The casino itself felt completely dated and old, and smelled like 20-year-old cigarette smoke. I’ve never been more disappointed in a casino.

The cafe food was good and the staff were friendly, though they seemed to forget about our table once the food came out. My toast could’ve used jelly, and the hash browns could have had ketchup or another sauce option. I’d go back.

I go late at night, and they still have drinks. I just head to the bar and order a Sprite. There are plenty of games, and some slots definitely seem loose. Late-night hot seats are my favorite promo. I wasn’t into this place at first because staff were rude, if you could find any around, but now it’s another go-to for me.

The fries were crisp, with a pickle on the side, and the vegetables were fresh. The patties seemed good quality and didn’t need extra salt. You get the burger plain, then choose your vegetables and cheese, with mustard, ketchup and mayonnaise offered in bottles. It was juicy on a soft, tasty bun, and a little better than the Awful Awful I remember from Reno, though still just okay. That burger used to be at the old Nugget casino on Virginia Street, across from the old Harrah’s, before that casino and luncheon restaurant closed after COVID. Now it’s back at the Nuggets casino in Carson City NV, so I had to try it again. For the price, I could’ve gone to Red Robin, Chili’s, Applebee’s or another burger place. The Heart Attack burger restaurant in Las Vegas, or Fuddruckers in Sparks NV, would be better substitutes.
