Prairie Winds Motel

I wasn’t sure what to expect on my first visit, but the owner was wonderful: helpful and considerate, and clearly cared about customers and their experience. The spacious room was very clean, with fresh linens on the day I arrived, a microwave, and a mini fridge. The furniture was comfortable, and the floors felt clean enough that I was happy to go barefoot. The wall decor was older, but that didn’t change how cozy the motel felt. I’ll definitely come back.

A sweet, basic room and a nice stay. There were some hairs, plus cleaning things left in the room, including a vacuum, mop, rags, and cleaning chemicals. The beds weren’t made, but I’m not picky.

Check-in went smoothly, and I’d been excited after reading the reviews. That changed as soon as we entered the room. The chairs were filthy, and there were only 2 towels, so I couldn’t cover them with extras. Looking under the sink for more, I found a partially eaten PBJ sandwich. There was also an unlocked door marked for housekeeping. I opened it thinking it might be a linen closet, but it led to some kind of service room that ran the full length of the motel. I locked the door on our side, though I still felt uneasy about their access. There was a huge cobweb in the corner. If I could, I’d give it 0 stars.

The owner was so sweet, caring, and understanding. The rooms were very clean, and when I asked for extra towels and ice, I got both without any trouble. I’d give her more stars if I could.
