Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham Caseyville

My friend and her son had nowhere to go, so I paid for four nights for them. I’d clearly asked the hotel to charge the security deposit to my card because she had no money, and they said that would be fine. I gave her money for food the next day, but then they took the deposit anyway, leaving her without it. The front desk was rude, wouldn’t answer the phone, and corporate was no help. The place was in terrible shape: roaches throughout the rooms, bedbugs in some, and dirty rooms and bathrooms. Staff got frustrated and rude when she repeatedly asked to change rooms. They also didn’t provide the advertised breakfast, which she and her son were counting on. Don’t stay here.

We couldn’t check in at all. When we arrived at Days Inn, nobody was at the front desk, and after waiting in the lobby for 20 minutes with our bags, we still couldn’t find anyone to help. There was only a sign saying they’d be back, with no way to reach staff. We eventually had to leave and find another hotel. It was a very disappointing, unprofessional experience, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you expect someone to be available.

If you’re looking for a cheap room, this might work, but keep an eye on the security deposit refund. The rooms were $83, though they put a $100 hold on each card. It settled at $183 per room, but they fixed the charge after I called.

The guy at the front was nice and let us see the room before paying. We reluctantly decided we could manage it for one night, despite the crumbling parking lot and the mildew smell in the carpeted hallway. The mattresses were really old, one sheet had small stains, and the TV didn’t work. The remote had corroded batteries. Within the first half hour, we’d killed two little roaches and were debating whether to beg for a refund and leave.
