Cedar Inn

We never got to stay in a room, but they still kept $120. The first one had a ceiling tile on the floor and no electricity. They moved us to another room, and it was filthy, with hair everywhere, bugs, and a bunch of things scattered on the floor. We said we couldn't stay in it and found somewhere else. The woman said she could refund just one night at $120, then claimed the machine was broken and she couldn't refund anything. We ended up calling the local police, and after they got involved she somehow got the machine working. We'll dispute the $120 that still wasn't refunded. I paid $97 for the Hilton in Fargo, and this place wanted $120 a night for a dirty room. Insane. She couldn't even get us into the room at first because the lock wouldn't let her in, so she had to take it apart by hand. Such a waste of time. We never had any trouble under the previous management, but something is awful with the new one. So thankful for Chaz’s Air BnB on 119 Main, which saved us from this mess. It was beautiful and cost the same. They also tried to charge us $120 a night when we'd paid $58 a night last time. Truly scam artists.

The motel itself was comfortable, clean, and nice. The restaurant was a different story. With around eight other people there and two servers, I waited about half an hour just to get service. Over three hours I only got two drinks, and the French dip was chopped-up, burnt steak. When I paid, the server asked if I needed change. I said yes, but after watching him serve other people for another half hour, I realized he was walking off with a 40 percent tip. Thanks for being robbers!

CEDAR INN Restaurant has the best steak I've ever had. I've seen people mention that they sometimes run out of food, but I think that's because it's the best-tasting restaurant in town and they can't keep enough in stock, not because management is poor.

The owners are super nice, and if you're lucky you might catch one of their Indian buffets or another specialty night. I usually eat here at least two or three times a month since it's one of the few places in Cavalier that does takeout. The food is great. I've never stayed in a room myself, but everyone I know who has says good things.
