The location was lovely, but this wasn't the relaxing stay we had hoped for, especially with my husband about to start cancer treatment. The owner was responsive and did shoo away the woodpecker, but it returned and hammered on the chimney loudly around 6-7 each morning. I'm a light sleeper and couldn't get back to sleep on six mornings. I live around woodpeckers and know there are ways to keep them from doing this. We couldn't use the pool, hot tub, or chaise lounge area unless we rented the whole place, at least at this time of year. After I asked, the owner said we could use it while they were out of town, but the hot tub wasn't heated, so it was cold. The website photos made the amenities look available, and this limitation apparently wasn't mentioned there. We weren't compensated for the inconvenience, just told “sorry” and expected to move on. The bathroom sink was so shallow I broke a nail washing my hands. The Casita bed is very high, and its step tips easily, something to consider if you have physical limitations. The toilet's pocket door also slipped off its track twice, trapping me inside until my husband lay on the floor and put it back. We couldn't shut it all the way after that. If I'd been alone, I don't know what I would have done. I know pocket doors can be fixed.
