The photos are old, and the place is a run down dump. There were blankets hanging in the office windows, and nobody was in the office. It shares a parking lot with a liquor store, so expect to deal with drunk people. We booked online and drove all the way from Ohio, only to find we couldn’t get into our room. The call service couldn’t reach anyone either. They said we’d get a refund, but that doesn’t make up for the long drive with three angry babies, and I’m sure we’ll never see that money.

The only thing going for this place is the view. They used curtains as blankets, and there was just one pillow per bed for the three of us. Dead bugs covered the bathroom counter, there was a dead spider on the floor by the bathroom, and old ice cream was in the fridge. No wifi, the TV didn’t work, and when I asked for towels, they gave me two. Nobody answered the door when I tried to get management about a refund, and the next day I still couldn’t reach a manager or owner. Worst place I’ve ever stayed. It used to be a wonderful hotel. Zero stars.

The location is the only thing in its favor. We paid $75, but the bathtub was full of dirt, mosquitoes in the room were awful, and you could see light through the wall logs. The bed had holes down the sides, and the sheet looked like it had love stains. There was no TV because they hadn’t paid the bill, and we got one towel with no washcloths. I went to the office/store three times about the TV, but they didn’t understand English, so I had to work out the wifi myself. The picnic tables are falling apart, and the dock looked rotten. I wouldn’t trust it, especially since the dock next to it had already collapsed into the water. I don’t recommend it.

I’ve stayed twice this past week, making the hour drive each way, so yes, I recommend it. The rooms are cozy, clean and comfortable, the rates are good, and the owners are sweet without bothering you. The carpet was damp, though I guess that comes with walking straight from your room onto the dock when it’s one of the rooms closest to the lake. I stayed in rm 14 both times, with two queen beds and a flat screen, for about 50 bux plus tax. I’m told the rooms at the front of the motel have Jacuzzis. Weiss Market/liquor store is right next door, about a 10 second walk from our door.
