Check-in was straightforward, and breakfast was hot with staff keeping it in good shape. The TV was another story: it kept resetting to full volume, so we unplugged it for the night. Management couldn’t help until the next day. Also, a heads-up that the mattress is quite firm and very springy. All in all, not a bad stay.

Every problem we raised at this Comfort Inn came with an excuse, and the staff made it feel like we were at fault. Our TV and safe didn’t work, but we were told maintenance would come the next day, so we spent the first night without a TV. Then we learned the maintenance man had the day off, so we moved rooms at 9 a.m. while getting ready for a funeral and had to pack everything up. I’d asked for housekeeping for the following day, but after visiting family all day we came back to dirty towels and unemptied trash. When I called, the staff member claimed I hadn’t requested service. They eventually cleaned while we were out for dinner. Later, my key card stopped working. The staff member said it was because I’d put it next to my phone, though I hadn’t. The replacement card didn’t work either, and neither did the staff member’s key at our door. My mother was asleep inside, but fortunately she woke up and let me in. I’ve worked in hospitality and would have tried to make things right for a guest. The service here was subpar.

The room itself is fine, though there’s a faint smell I can’t identify, maybe from the pets they allow. I’m not planning to try breakfast. At check-in, the desk attendant seemed more focused on texting than helping. I arrived at 4:15 p.m., an hour and fifteen minutes after the stated 3 p.m. check-in, but she went back to texting while looking for a “clean room.” Staff were still cleaning, and many rooms hadn’t been done yet. There were slightly pricier hotels nearby, but I guess I’m getting what I paid for.

After a seven-hour drive, all we wanted was to relax, but the TV in our first room was visibly cracked and kept shutting off. When it came back on, the volume was at 100, then the same cycle started again. We told the desk, and the woman agreed to move us. In the new room, the sheets were dirty with paw prints from the previous guest. My husband went down for clean ones, but the desk clerk wanted proof. I brought the sheets down myself to get replacements, then went back upstairs to make the bed. The toilet was dirty too, so I cleaned it myself.

The room was clean and spacious, and the building and lobby looked nice, but room 218 had one of the five worst beds I’ve encountered in more than 60 years of travel. It felt like sleeping on a box spring, and the floor might have been more comfortable. The heater didn’t work either. The bathroom door was warped and wouldn’t close properly, and there was no grab bar for getting out of the tub. I paid over $100 for what felt like a board to sleep on. The front desk clerk didn’t want to check us in and told us to come back later. When we returned an hour afterward, someone else was at the desk. Very poor service.
