I woke up with bed bugs on my pillow and found them on every bed. There were awful stains, pee on the bathroom floor, a toilet that wouldn't flush, a broken bathroom light, and wood-like bits scattered across a room that didn't look wiped down. I was too exhausted to complain that night, but I had to call my brother in tears the next morning to come get me and find somewhere else to stay. My money was held for three days. I was visiting my high-risk pregnant friend for a girls' getaway, and I'm so glad I hadn't let her stay with me. This was a place I used to count on. My aunt worked here as a maid, and I spent summers swimming at the hotel growing up. Later, when I moved away, I stayed here on visits home because it was always good for the price. This time, I arrived at 1 a.m. to find a 12-year-old checking me in; an adult who could actually check me in didn't arrive until 20 minutes later. I'd called the day before about bringing my pets and paid the pet deposit, but they still tried to stop me taking my dog to the room. They let me through reluctantly after I explained I'd called. It's heartbreaking to see how far the hotel has fallen. Absolutely disgusting. I hope someone who cares takes it over and puts in the work to make it nice again.
