Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Cedar Rapids North Hotel

Brandy at the front desk was fantastic. My flight out of Cedar Rapids Airport was canceled at 9:30 AM because of severe weather, and after I called, I was able to check in about an hour later. The staff helped me out when a couple of higher end places I called couldn’t. They even gave me a complimentary sweet treat for the trouble. The room was clean, and I’m looking forward to checking out the pool.

The room was clean and newly remodeled, and I was glad to find a tub at a Marriott for once. I also liked the bench seat and dual shower head. My only room issue was that the bedroom TV didn’t work. My husband didn’t follow up about it, and I was fine watching on my phone, so it may be an easy fix. Breakfast had lots to choose from, including several fruits and hard boiled eggs. The oatmeal was just right, not runny or too thick, along with the usual options. The staff were very kind and helpful. The fitness center has a good range of equipment, with weights starting at 5 pounds. I do PT and fitness every day or two, so it was useful to have it available. It would be nice if there were 3 and 4 pound weights for seniors, though I realize many seniors may not use the fitness center. A good new option for Marriott members in Cedar Rapids.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and the hotel and room were both very clean. The location made it easy to get to everything we needed. I’d happily stay at Fairfield again.

The thermostat was the one odd part of the stay. It reacted really slowly, and there wasn’t a heat-only setting, so I felt like I was wrestling with it, lol. The place was otherwise clean and nice, and the location was pretty good.
