I was in town from NYC on business for a few nights, and the service was outstanding. My room was huge, like a NYC studio. The Vance & Vine Restaurant on the ground floor was one of my best meals in a hotel. I had a succulent medium-rare burger the first night, then an outstanding breakfast protein platter at brunch on my last day. Danika, my server, was pleasant and accommodating. I don’t eat pork, so she went to the kitchen and arranged chicken sausages especially for me and my coworker. I really enjoyed the food, but appreciated the customer service even more. Angie, who cleaned my room, was kind and pleasant, brought extra towels, and checked that I was doing well. I’ll definitely return and recommend Hotel Vance to colleagues and friends.
The hotel has a parking garage and is within walking distance of just about anything. The building is a little unusual, with offices and classrooms on one side and the hotel on the other. The front desk is tucked into a lobby corner. The attendant seemed standoffish, but sort of helpful. The rooms felt unfinished, with bare concrete walls and ceilings that made them echo. Not great for a business Zoom meeting. A locker that looks like it came from a high school serves as the closet, with a small fridge and coffee maker inside, which wasn’t convenient. The bathroom was even stranger, white subway tiles with red grout and a red lobster tile in the shower wall. It looked like a crime scene. Still, it was a great stay overall, and I’d stay here again.
The location was convenient, close to lots of places to eat. We had garage parking with plenty of space, and the elevator was right there, so getting in and out was quick. Multnomah Falls was 30 minutes away, and Tillamook about an hour and a half. The price can be debatable, especially with the Destination Fee, but I’d probably stay again. It wasn’t perfect, though there wasn’t too much to complain about, and the staff made it a nice and convenient place to stay. I’d give it 4.5/5. Heath deserves a shoutout for being generous and accommodating to me and my group. The staff were all welcoming, and someone was always at the front desk. Our room was a mixed bag. The beds were fairly clean and a good balance of firm and soft, there was room for bags and takeout, and casting to the TV made it easy to stream movies. But the full-length mirror was awkwardly mounted inside the closet beside the bed, and the glass-panel shower let water splash outside. We had plenty of towels, but that was still a nuisance.
The view from Hotel Vance was breathtaking, and the location made it easy to get to Portland attractions and amenities. My room was spotless and comfortable throughout my stay. The staff were professional, attentive, courteous, and quick to help, so I felt welcomed and valued. Staying here made my Portland visit ten times better. I’d highly recommend Hotel Vance to anyone coming to the area and look forward to returning.
We’re really impressed and will absolutely stay here again. The place is artsy and affordable, in a perfect location. Our room is huge and has a unique design, the bed is so comfortable, and the shower is lovely. I paid $250 through Expedia for two nights. We didn’t pay for parking because $50 a night is ridiculous. Instead, we used a garage about a block away for around $15 overnight. There wasn’t a microwave in the room, so we ate cold leftovers, which was inconvenient. The front desk said they could bring us one, though, and I wish we’d known that sooner.
