Ramada by Wyndham Cedar Rapids South

I paid for a room to rest and feel safe, but instead I was woken at 11 p.m. by a staff member who unlocked the door and came in without warning. I woke up to a stranger in my room, which felt aggressive and was a serious breach of privacy and safety. They said someone had complained about a “wet bathroom floor,” then threatened to call the police if I didn’t “clean it up.” This could have been handled with a call or during normal hours. Entering a guest’s room at night and threatening law enforcement over a wet floor was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you expect your privacy to be respected.

My friend paid for the night in full at check-in, but around midnight staff came to his room saying he hadn’t paid. Instead of checking the records calmly, they threatened to involve the police. He felt pressured to pay a second time just to avoid more trouble. Being woken up and intimidated over what seems to have been an internal or clerical mistake was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. They could have verified the payment before confronting him. Keep your receipts and payment confirmations if you stay here. Very disappointing.

The photos don’t match the rooms. As soon as I arrived, I regretted booking here. My room smelled musty, the refrigerator didn’t work, the bathroom light was faulty, and the A/C and heater were broken. I told the front desk, but he just looked confused and offered no solution. I turned in the keys and left.

I’ve traveled around the US for work and been to almost every State, and this is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at. Akshay at the front desk was the rudest person I’ve ever met. The showers don’t drain, the toilet backs up every two days, and the sheets were dirty every time they got changed. I never write reviews, but I had to try to warn people. Absolutely horrible service!
