Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Denver Tech Center

That kitchenette was great. It had a fridge with an ice maker, two burners, a dishwasher, dishes, and spices for cooking a proper meal. The bed was comfy, the hotel was quiet, and we had a great time. Saturday's check-in staff were amazing, and one even remembered our conversation from weeks earlier. We didn't want to leave and hope our next visit is longer. I'd have given five stars if the housekeeping staff hadn't been upset that I was allowed a 2 p.m. checkout. When I went to check out, the clerk took about three minutes to acknowledge me. Still, my husband and I will stay again.

James made both check-in and checkout easy, and the breakfast was excellent: fresh fruit, pastries, scrambled eggs, and bacon. The breakfast area was clean and the attendant was friendly. The room welcomed pets. Its furniture showed some wear, but nothing felt gross or off-putting. We also had a nice hot shower, a cold fridge, and an ice maker in the freezer that was perfect for filling our small cooler before heading out. The hotel is handy for travelers, with familiar restaurants and shops just a short distance away. We had a great stay.

The room was pretty nice and the bed reasonably comfortable, though a bit firm. The kitchen had dishes, but some weren't clean. The water pitcher lid had red drink residue from a previous guest, and the scrubber had food stuck in it with many bent bristles. I cleaned it out and it still worked for the dishes. Breakfast was good, though it wasn't the usual buffet. You order from the menu in your room, then a worker brings it in a bag and leaves it at your door. The food was frozen, so you heat it yourself, but there were no instructions for how long each item needed. I tried using a pan and only charred the food, so I switched to the microwave. Despite those little issues, we had a great stay, and the staff were really welcoming and nice.

The woman at the front desk was wonderful. She stayed kind and composed even with the most difficult guests, and helped me find a nearby local place to eat late at night. The morning breakfast host was charming too. It was a cramped space, but he made us feel welcome and even brought cheese from the kitchen for my eggs. I had a lovely stay. A pool and hot tub would have made it even better.
