Breakfast had a good variety and the food tasted good, though the area needed more than two employees to keep up. Juice and milk often ran out, waffle batter cups were missing, and some guests left a mess. I felt bad for the staff. The rooms were clean, breakfast decent, and the large pool and hot tub were warm. Staff responded when we asked for extra towels in the room and pool area. We felt safe in this secluded location, away from the main district. We were in town for a week and picked this place because it was affordable compared with the inflated rates near the Alliant Energy Center. The online photos didn’t match our room. I’d booked a king because the listing showed a pull out sofa for my kids, but the room had only a bed and chair. They moved us when I asked, which was helpful. The replacement room had two large, unexplained red stains on the carpet. That’s unacceptable. Also, people ignored the no smoking rule, and we often smelled Marijuana in the hallways. We stopped using the pool after seeing hair and debris floating in it, then, on our fourth day, what looked like a small piece of poo, presumably from a child. I didn’t see skimmers or filters being used, and there didn’t seem to be nets for staff to remove things. The hot tub chemicals also ruined two of our expensive swimsuits. One pink suit turned purple, and a blue one faded. We noticed after taking them off in the room and tried rinsing them with shampoo, but it was too late. For the low price it was a decent stay. Check the room before settling in to make sure it matches what you expected from the pictures.

The staff were polite, prices fair, and the location handy for nearby restaurants. Still, my five-day stay had some real drawbacks. The hotel feels dated, and several gym machines and TVs weren’t working. They don’t provide housekeeping during a stay, so I got no cleaning or restock the whole time, which I didn’t expect. Wifi was poor and difficult to keep connected, and the password was weak. Changing plans weeks ahead turned into a frustrating experience because of their rigid cancellation policy. It’s an okay budget option, but read the fine print before booking.

After a four-hour drive, my fiancé and I checked in and went right to sleep. When I woke up, I found multiple large yellow stains on the sheets under the pillows. More yellow marks were on the mattress and linens when I pulled the bed apart. There also appeared to be uncleaned vomit on the carpet. Housekeeping had left it there. My fiancé told the front desk about these health hazards. Rather than apologize or offer a different room, staff dismissed the concern and asked why we hadn’t noticed sooner. They gave my fiancé fresh sheets and expected us to change the bed ourselves. Guests shouldn’t have to handle contaminated linens or do the cleaning they’re paying for. The room was unsanitary and uninhabitable, and the staff didn’t provide a basic level of service to fix it. I’m requesting a full refund for this stay. I’ve photographed the stains and carpet. If this isn’t resolved promptly, I’ll take the complaint to Wyndham Corporate Customer Care and file a report with Public Health Madison & Dane County. I look forward to a quick response and resolution. Baymont by Wyndham Madison West/Middleton WI West May 11 2026

The room was super clean, which is what matters most to me. A housekeeper did walk in at 9am, but what can you do. It was good enough for what it was. They also sell beer, seltzer, and wine at the counter, which was a nice option I hadn’t seen before. I didn’t buy any.

The room was dirty and worn down, with hair and debris in the sink and shower and chunks of carpet missing. The crooked frames and lamp covering made the neglect pretty obvious. We could hear everything in the hallway, and the whole place smelled like marijuana. The on-site restaurant isn’t operating anymore, and some kind of alarm went off twice in the middle of the night. It was cheap and did in a pinch at the last minute, but I don’t understand how it keeps a 3 star status. Maybe the low price explains it. I wouldn’t stay again.
