Tappan Zee Hotel

I paid $100 for one night, and the room smelled awful. The bed was really itchy, and the service was horrible. The housekeeper was disrespectful and did everything to keep me from getting compensated. I’d like someone from corporate or whoever’s in charge to call me so I can discuss what happened. There were problems all over the room. The outlets didn’t work until the guy came and switched the light on and off. The sink was coming out completely, and I had to yank it to get it to turn on. I couldn’t even change the water from cold to hot, and the dresser handle was broken off. I do not recommend this place.

The bathroom had cracks around the outlets, the room smelled musty, and the walls were so thin I hardly slept. The TV didn’t work either, with snow on three quarters of the channels, and none of the electrical outlets worked. Thankfully, I had a charging box for my phone. This was my third visit and absolutely my last. I’m giving it negative 10 stars. The first two stays had room problems too. I called the front desk, was told someone would come right over, and nobody showed up. This time I got cold and cool showers. Rockland is already going downhill, and this place makes it worse. Save your money. When I checked out, there was a young kid at the desk. I was respectful, but I told him about the problems and asked if anyone else was in the back. He said he was alone. Bullshit. I’ll be calling later today to ask for some sort of refund. You need to spend money to make money, or sell the place. You’re not business owners, and that’s why your parking lot is so empty. Good luck.

The sheets were the worst part. They clearly hadn’t been changed from the previous guests and had hair, dust, dirt streaks, holes, and stains all over them. We even took photos of many of the problems. When I asked the night desk man for two sets of double-bed sheets so we could change the beds ourselves, he returned with four king top sheets, no fitted sheets, and no pillowcases. Then he gave me more attitude when I asked for the pillowcases he’d left out. He never apologized and acted as if it were my fault the room hadn’t been cleaned. I was floored. We’d checked in quickly in the afternoon and left our luggage without looking around because we had to head out for dinner and our timed tours. We didn’t get back until after midnight, when we found piles of dust on the sticky floor and tons of pubic hair in the shower. The walls and ceilings in both the room and bathroom were badly stained, the toilet wouldn’t flush right, the sink faucet leaked across the counter, and the TV picture had jumpy lines. The pillows were both flat and lumpy, and should have been replaced years ago. The whole place smelled awful, including reception, the stairwell, hallways, and rooms, and the night receptionist was incredibly rude. It was so bad that we thought about driving 2.5 hrs. home in the middle of the night. We only stayed because we’d already paid for tickets to something the next day. I can usually find something good in a situation, but I have nothing good to say about the Tappan Zee Hotel. I feel like the health department should shut it down. It was the worst hotel experience of my nearly 50 years on Earth. Zero stars if I could.

Broooo, this place is crazy. I’ve never experienced anything like it. The room smelled like cigarettes, and you could hear everything around you. From the shower to the room, it felt like something out of a scary movie hotel.
