Deadwood was great to walk around, and if you're up for the steep climb, the cemetery makes a nice hike. I stopped for the night on the way into the Black Hills after changing my camping plan because it was rainy and chilly. I didn't run into the problems mentioned in some reviews. The two women working were friendly and easy to talk with, especially the new employee. My room was quiet and a good size for one person. It wasn't fancy, but under $40 seemed fair. The bed was much too soft for me since I prefer a firm one. Thanks for a nice evening, ladies.

The owners were welcoming and knew the area well, and I'd happily stay again. I loved the old-fashioned elevator, which felt like stepping back in time. My October room was huge, with big windows looking over downtown, and the bed was really comfortable. It also had a fridge, microwave, and coffee pot, all handy to have.

Be sure to try breakfast here at least once. Chef Bob's hamburgers were unforgettable, and we're already thinking about coming back as often as we can. The place has a lovely historic feel but is still comfortable, with friendly staff who were quick to offer good ideas for things to see and do. If you're bringing pets, book early for one of the pet-friendly rooms. We were glad we could stay here with our dog and kitty cat.

The only drawback was uneven water pressure, much stronger in the kitchen than in the bathtub, but it didn't spoil the stay. My husband and I were passing through and wanted a taste of the “Deadwood” experience, and we really enjoyed our one night here. The owners were friendly and accommodating when we arrived late, helping us get the key and everything sorted out. The hotel feels historic, and that old-school elevator was probably my favorite part. We'll definitely come back!

We popped into the store while we were in town last weekend and were glad we did. There was lots to browse, and everyone was so friendly. They showed us around the upper floors where the hotel rooms are, and the rooms looked spacious and full of character. We'll stop in again next time we're in Deadwood.
