Holiday Inn Express & Suites Chadron by IHG

Both receptionists we dealt with were lovely, and they let us check in early and check out late. The lobby was nice, the coffee was available around the clock, we felt safe, and everything worked. But our room had crusted toothpaste in a few places and small curly hairs in the shower. On our departure day, while the do-not-disturb card was on the door and we were still getting ready, a housekeeper let herself in. That was embarrassing. The worst part came after breakfast on our second morning: we both got food poisoning. I was traveling and ate nothing else that day, so I can't think of another source. Chadron doesn't have many options and this is still a better one, but I'd skip breakfast and use every door lock.

The staff were friendly, and our room was quiet and clean with comfortable beds. They have self-serve beer taps and sometimes put out happy-hour snacks with the beer. We were out gathering rocks early each morning, so I can't comment on the breakfast.

It's getting harder to find places that are welcoming to people driving semis, but this one was easy. When I called about availability and parking, they didn't hesitate: they said yes and just asked me to park against a wall so I could get out easily. Later, when I got hungry, I had some incredible chicken wings from the restaurant inside.

The sheets were dirty, and there was a big piece of sausage on the floor, so our room clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. The desk manager apologized right away and moved us to another room. She took care of the problem.
