The room was nice, the sheets were clean, and there’s a clean outdoor pool. The bed wasn’t as comfortable as mine at home, but it did the job. What really bothered me was the bathroom: pee on the toilet seat and wall, plus green soap residue all over the sink. I didn’t call the desk because the man who checked me in wasn’t very friendly. The guy working in the morning was helpful and pleasant. I just wish the bathroom had been cleaner.

We ended up not staying, and they refunded us without a fuss, so I’m not upset about how they handled that. I also wasn’t keen on the person who checked us in, though maybe I read too much into the interaction. They’d given the guest ahead of us an unmade room and had to switch him to another one. The lobby felt gross, and the property is old and badly in need of a facelift. I can see why it costs about half as much as other places nearby. We saw signs of bedbugs in both rooms offered to us. In the first, there was an adult bug shell, marks on the mattress, blood spots on the sheets, and blood inside a lamp. The carpet didn’t seem clean, and the heating and air-conditioning unit had mold. I didn’t see a live bedbug, but I wasn’t going to risk staying there. I have an MS in entomology and don’t want to bring them home; they can be very hard to get rid of. I think the whole property needs exterminating.

Chuck at the front desk was fantastic. We were worn out from relocating with our two adult kids and two cats, and he was especially helpful. The room was clean, the bed was really comfortable, and the boys said their room was clean and comfortable too. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including healthy options. We didn’t use the pool, but it was nice knowing it was available. From check-in through checkout, I wouldn’t change anything. For the price, including the pet fee, this is a solid budget stay. We heard a rumor that a major renovation is coming, which would be good. And Chuck is a gem!

Breakfast was waffles, toast, yogurt, and cereal, and the staff were quite helpful. The bathroom drain ran slowly, and they thanked me for mentioning it. The mattress was firm. The lobby is small, and the hotel could use a deep cleaning, especially the carpets, plus a fresh coat of paint. We chose it because Gettysburg was beyond our budget, and its spot right on Rt 30 made it easy to reach. For the price, I’d stay again. Update: The owner responded promptly, so I’d definitely come back.

The front desk staff were friendly and tried to help, but they didn’t have much to offer. My room had no microwave, though luckily my coworkers in the next room had one. The fridge needed cleaning, with something sticky on the knob that made it hard to adjust, and I found fruit loops in one of the beds. They offered to move me, but couldn’t promise there’d be a microwave or that the other room would be in better shape. I asked the cleaning staff politely to clean the room; she laughed and never did, even though we stayed three days.
