Extended Stay America Select Suites - Atlanta - Clairmont

I only stayed a few hours and never felt comfortable or secure. We had booked two nights, but arrived late and stayed just one. The area outside the lobby felt unsafe, with people yelling and swearing and appearing to use drugs. The smell of marijuana and smoke was strong in the halls and room, despite the hotel's non-smoking claim and strict penalties. The lobby was dirty, and although the room looked tidy at first, it wasn't sanitary: roaches on the countertops at night, human hair on the bathroom wall, and oily residue on the tables and recliner. The front desk man at check-in was kind, which I appreciated, but I wish I’d followed my instincts and left right away. Since I booked through a third party, I couldn't get the second night's charge refunded. I ended up paying for two hotels just to avoid staying here again. This property should be investigated for health and safety concerns.

The location is nice, and Bella gave great service, but the property itself is nasty and neglected. I got no sleep because of loud stomping and vacuuming all night, which seemed odd. I complained, but nothing was done. It’s hard to reach anyone overnight, and the general manager isn't maintaining the property.

We came to ATL for two nights and called ahead because we’d be arriving late. They said we could check in as long as we got there before midnight. We arrived around 11:30-11:45, but the parking lot was full of questionable people, and some were hollering at my wife. The front desk gate was shut. By phone, we were told someone would be there in five minutes, then 15 minutes, but no one came. Calls after that got an unknown answer. I heard noise behind the gate and knocked on it and the side door. My wife banged too, with no response. Another guest said the night employee was late, apparently not for the first time, and told us the water was out because of a main break down the road. A few minutes later, a woman named Raven came out of an office and asked if we had been banging. She said she’d clocked out at 10 and couldn’t help. When my wife said she worked at ESA and had helped people off the clock, Raven cut her off with, “then you know!” It looked like she was doing laundry overnight off the clock. She left. The night shift employee arrived 5-10 minutes later and told us the previous woman could have helped but watched us on camera. She checked us in. The room was spacious, but smelled like cigarettes and animals. The floor was so sticky our shoes felt glued to it, and there were spots that felt like we might fall through. The bathroom fan made a horrible noise. We had brought bottled water for brushing our teeth because the water was out. It was still out in the morning, and when we returned from our activities, it hadn't come back. We had already decided to move. The person at the desk apologized, said they knew about the incident, and said something would be done. We moved to the Crestline location, which was so much better and is highly recommended. This one was nasty and sketchy, a crack hotel at best. Avoid it.

The hot water was out for more than 48 hours, and management offered no fix or resolution, as if basic hygiene didn't matter in a paid hotel. I was also charged an unexplained extra $20. When I politely asked about it, the manager, Awa, was condescending, hostile, and dismissive. The whole property felt neglected, disorganized, and unclean, with customer service treated like an inconvenience. It’s a cautionary example of how not to run a hotel, and Extended Stay America corporate should be ashamed to have its name attached to this operation.
