Hyatt Place Phoenix/Chandler-Fashion Center

The location worked well, with chandler-fashion mall and its round1 arcade nearby, plus Target, Costco, and Walmart. Parking wraps around the back, which helps when it gets busy. I booked with hyatt points and got a better deal than paying cash. The room was a decent size, the bed was nice, and I wouldn’t mind coming back. The ceiling felt low, especially in the hallway, and the place seemed like it might have been renovated fairly recently. Breakfast was the standard complimentary kind. I also wished the lighting were a little warmer, since the walls are already so grey and white.

Wagner at the front desk really stood out. He was kind, friendly, and so helpful that he deserves recognition. My partner and I had a pleasant Christmas holiday stay at Hyatt Place in Chandler, with a large, clean, cozy room. We did have to switch rooms because of loud footsteps from upstairs, and the hotel was somewhat noisy. Breakfast also had no gluten-free options. Even with those issues, we enjoyed our stay.

The manager eventually agreed that what happened wasn’t acceptable, and some compensation was offered, but I’m left wondering whether this is an ongoing problem. We stayed seven nights, and after an initial complaint the front desk gave us his business card and told us to call him. That didn’t feel like the right way to handle it. We went back several times because the room still hadn’t been cleaned, but staff acted as though it wasn’t their problem. Only on our second-to-last night did we find the manager on site and speak with him. The hotel looked clean, as other reviews mention, but we were offered room service only once during the whole stay. We had to repeatedly ask for fresh towels and toilet paper, and even took our own garbage near the large bins. I’ve never stayed somewhere without room service after two days. If you expect the daily service most hotels provide, I’d look elsewhere, especially for a stay longer than one night.

My main frustration was how slowly the elevator ran, even though it only serves three floors. The room itself was modern and clean, with basic amenities including a fridge and coffee maker. There were two TVs, one by the bed and one in the living and desk area. The beds were comfortable and clean, and the bathroom had plenty of towels and toilet paper.
