The most troubling part was having something stolen right outside my room. There was a camera system, but management initially refused to review the footage. I had to file a police report before they took any action. Even then, the people responsible were allowed to remain there as guests, which left me feeling unsafe. The rest of the stay was poor too. All the rooms had a lingering stale smoke smell, and the beds and sheets smelled of mildew and had visible stains. The towels were cheap, worn, strongly mildewed, and so stiff they seemed more likely to scratch than dry your skin. I know it’s a budget motel, but basic hygiene should still be expected. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The staff were very friendly, and the place was cheap enough that it worked out in the end. It was a pretty typical Motel 6 stay: thin towels, flat pillows, and sheets that had seen better days. My two main complaints were the shower and the fridge. There was basically no hot water at first, but after the first night I figured out the faucet was reversed, so you had to barely turn it toward the “hot” side. I mentioned it at the desk, though I don’t know whether it’ll ever be fixed. The room had a fridge but no freezer. I also wish I’d been given clean towels during the three days I was there.

The front office staff were very nice, and at first I had a good experience checking in. Later that night, a man renting another unit complained because my autistic son was yelling. He medically can’t help it: he’s loud, runs back and forth, screams, and sometimes yells. I know it was late, but it was wrong for a stranger to try to look into our unit and think awful things about my children. We’d only been checked in for an hour or two. The man was standing by the office lady while trying to look inside, which felt very creepy. I don’t know which unit he was in, or even who he was. People need to understand what special-needs kids can be like. I’m upset with the other renters, not the office, but now I’m afraid we’ll be kicked out and feel like I have to walk on eggshells around my son, who can’t medically control it. What started as a good stay left me feeling scared. I wouldn’t recommend this place again, especially if you have autistic children, because people here may treat them poorly.

It took my husband and me more than a week to decide to post this, but people should be careful about what they say around the front desk staff. I don’t know whether all the staff communicate closely with local police. My husband overheard the evening woman talking about warrants on the phone while she was smoking outside the office. At first he didn’t think much of it, but about ten minutes later police were at the motel knocking on the door next to ours. Nobody answered and no one was arrested, yet it was unsettling to think an employee might be giving guests’ information to police. I don’t know if that’s illegal, but in our opinion it’s wrong, and we won’t stay here again for spring training.

The bathroom had mold, the tubs need redoing, and the smoke alarm was missing when we checked in. We stayed for a month, then were told we were DNRed over sheets and blankets. My kids spilled chocolate Pop-Tarts, and I threw out the trash, but they said the room was left dirty. There were only crumbs left because we didn't have a dustpan. The sheet they gave us had blood on it, so we changed it. They also called our autistic son dirty and blamed him for bathroom problems he does not have.
