Redwood Motel

I went to Arizona for a family funeral, when hotel rates were crazy. Even the cheaper places cost half my rent back home, but the manager noticed me calling around and talking with family and gave me a reasonable price. I stayed three days, and the service made all the difference. He checked how things were going, asked about the funeral and whether I needed anything, and made sure the room was to my liking. He also checked whether the vacationers next door were too loud. At one point he invited me to sit and socialize with his friends over a beer. The motel itself was nice, but the kindness stood out. They gave me directions and advice on where to eat. I'd recommend it and plan to stay again when I'm in the area.

We walked into a dirty towel on the floor, and the AC didn't work. It was sooo hot, and the TV was completely out of sync. The woman was rude and yelled instead of speaking normally. There were lots of homeless people around. The most horrible staycation, never again.

We checked in late at night, and the staff were accommodating. The bed was soft and comfy, the service was good, and the shower was hot, so that's why I'd give it three stars. But we spotted a cockroach on the wall when we arrived, then more started coming out. If bugs don't bother you and you just need an affordable place for the night, it could work.

I think Nick is the manager. The room was huge, clean, and so comfortable, and I really appreciated all the help and hospitality. I recently moved from Minnesota to Arizona with nothing, and living in my car has been hard. I've never been in a situation like this, but this hotel made me feel at home. Thanks so much. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant stay.
