AC Hotel by Marriott Chapel Hill Downtown

The gym noise was the worst part of our stay. We were on the first floor and heard weights being slammed loudly at all hours, day and night. For what the hotel charges, I expected clean beds, soundproof walls, a decent breakfast, and free parking. We got none of those, and breakfast and parking cost way too much.

Renee really made our trip better. She was so kind and went above and beyond for us. We were here for two nights for an out-of-state soccer tournament, and her kindness makes the world a better place.

The rooms are nice, and the location works well for campus, but the bars right next door can get loud late at night. We found out only a few rooms aren't beside them. Free coffee in the lobby is a nice touch, though one time a staff member poured the last of it in front of us without saying anything. We had to find someone ourselves to report that it was gone. We stayed twice in the past month, and customer service was poor, especially from two men at the front desk. Check-in really sets the tone, and theirs was not good. My husband is a Titanium member, which made the lack of service even more disappointing. A woman at the desk was very nice and helped fix a problem, but I didn't get her name. There seems to be a lot of retraining needed.

Our room was beautiful and really clean. The staff were friendly, courteous, and quick to take care of what we needed. The hotel is just a block from Franklin Street in downtown Chapel Hill, and parking on site made things easy. I highly recommend staying here.
