Holiday Inn Express Charleston by IHG

We stayed several nights, and the renovated rooms were comfortable, up to date, and had great beds. Mr. Lawrence, the General Manager, went above and beyond for me and my team. He was professional and very kind. Heather was also so helpful and kept trying to assist whenever I asked. Thanks to the whole staff for doing a wonderful job. Great hotel, highly recommend!

The location felt safe and was convenient, and the staff were very nice. The rooms were clean, with a good fridge, desk, pillows, and an excellent shower. Breakfast was free, good, and served in a clean dining area. The place was simple and adequate, though some parts showed wear. There were plenty of drawbacks: the room was small, the bed was close to awful, and the A/C only just managed to keep it moderately cool. The fridge barely chilled anything, the ironing board was broken, there were hardly any working outlets, the lighting wasn't great, and the elevator felt a bit scary. I'd stay again, but I'd ask to switch rooms if something didn't work. Tip: the end of the hall by the emergency exit was very quiet.

I was here for one night during my kid's soccer tournament and found the room satisfactory. The beds were comfortable, the A/C worked as it should, and the clean bathroom had what we needed. The breakfast area was clean, with a decent breakfast, and the front desk staff were courteous and helpful. I would ask management to provide drinking water in the common or breakfast area. Having to get it from the gym wasn't comfortable.

The location is fantastic, close to everything, but this was a rough first impression of CHS. It was a cheap option and still felt way overpriced. At 4 PM the staff member was rude and unwelcoming. The halls and janitorial closet were so loud that I woke up every hour. The room was gross, with random hairs and little bits of dirt, and the furniture looked like it came out of a local rage room. Wi-Fi connected but didn't actually work, which was a problem since I work remotely. Do yourself a favor and go across the street.
