I’d recommend this hotel for its location in Charleston and its more reasonable prices compared with many larger hotels. Those bigger places can feel hectic with tourists just looking around, which isn’t very relaxing. Here, the staff made everything feel gracious and easy. They even supplied umbrellas during a winter rainstorm, and offered us excellent red wine and champagne for my wife. Our room was very large and looked out onto a broad Piazza. Most surfaces, including the frames, windowsills, and areas above the doorways, were spotless. The floors did show dust on the black sock test, as in the attached photo.

The evening came together beautifully, thanks in large part to Chris. His suggestions were right on, and he handled my many questions and requests with patience and speed. He helped wherever he was needed, and guests noticed the personal attention he and his staff gave them. Their work made the event a success. We held our son’s rehearsal dinner at Planters Inn, and everyone had kind things to say about the space, food, and service. Abby guided us through the planning and gave us useful advice along the way. Thanks to the whole team for making it such a lovely, memorable occasion.

The meal from the chefs and staff at the Peninsula Grill was delicious. We chose three entrees for the Rehearsal Dinner, then had three kinds of appetizers passed during the Welcome Party, and guests complimented the food all evening. The private dining room worked well for dinner, and the adjoining courtyard looked lovely with its twinkling lights for the reception. I wholeheartedly recommend Planters Inn after this five star experience. Abby Mertz coordinated with us from a distance, stayed in touch, and brought helpful ideas to the planning. Chris, the Planters Inn "Gentleman in Charge," greeted us at the door and calmly walked us through the schedule. He handled last minute changes professionally and kept dinner on time with a gentle touch so we could welcome the extra guests afterward. He led the staff throughout the evening and made hosting easy and enjoyable. Chris, the bartenders, and the servers were all amazing.

Our Grand King room had windows facing the Charleston Market and was furnished beautifully, with Baker Historic Charleston pieces, a king bed, armchairs for watching TV, a roomy bathroom, and lovely bath linens. The hotel made a good base for getting around the city and trying its restaurants. Since our flight arrived early, they held our bags while we explored, as they couldn’t confirm the room would be ready before the 4 PM check-in. Housekeeping tidied the room each morning and evening, and the hotel was spotless. The staff were warm and friendly. My husband and I had a wonderful stay and I’d recommend Planters Inn for a Charleston visit.

The location was fantastic, and our room was roomy and very clean. We had a wonderful stay. The restaurant is divine, and Korey with a K makes fabulous drinks behind the bar.
