We spent a memorable stay at The Loutrel, right in the French Quarter and just a minute’s walk from popular bars and restaurants. The rooms were beautiful, spotless, and comfortable, and the service was great. We especially enjoyed the daily complimentary happy hour, unlimited Fiji water, and the mezzanine stocked with snacks and games. The bar also stood out for its inventive cocktails and tasty food. We’d happily return and recommend it.

We’ve stayed at The Loutrel twice, first for a day last year and then for four nights in May, and it exceeded our expectations both times. The rooms are lovely, clean, and stocked with local snacks and drinks that are replenished each day, like a free minibar. The staff are gracious, friendly, and helpful, and the location makes it easy to walk to many sights, attractions, and good restaurants. The daily happy hour with a signature drink is great. We asked about the cloth cocktail napkins at the bar, and although they don’t sell them, the bar manager came over with the website, ordering details, and contact information. The concierge also found us reservations at several hard-to-get places. Definitely have a meal at Magnolias and Anton’s. I can’t imagine choosing another Charleston hotel.

The room was beautifully designed, clean, and comfortable, with snacks and drinks included, which made things easy. The hotel has a relaxed coastal look and the feel of an elegant, inviting bed and breakfast. We also looked forward to the daily Finest Hour, with its excellent cocktails, after exploring Charleston. The breakfast each day was a thoughtful extra, with well prepared hot dishes as well as continental choices. From arrival through our final day of a long weekend, the staff were genuinely friendly, attentive, and focused on service. The Loutrel is a charming, quiet place with excellent service. We’d happily recommend it and stay again.

For my first Charleston visit, this was a lovely base. The hotel sits on a quiet side street, but everything was within walking distance. Staff were warm, and having snacks and drinks waiting in the room was a nice convenience. The room was small, though clean, and the bed was amazing. The robes weren’t great. There’s a Dyson hair dryer in the bathroom, which was handy. Breakfast was included and nice, but very basic. I’d expected a few things like smoked salmon, sliced meats, or maybe tomato. Still, I’d recommend The Loutrel without hesitation. The staff made my birthday and stay memorable, and I’m grateful.

We spent three nights at The Loutrel, and the staff made us feel welcome from check-in to departure. Logan greeted us at the front desk, and Christina and Hannah in the Veranda Lounge were lovely company during the Finest Hour complimentary drinks. Our corner room, 404, was spacious, beautifully furnished, and very quiet at night. The hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained. We heard some daytime street noise from nearby construction, but it didn’t bother us since we were out. We only got a short visit to the rooftop terrace: one day was too hot, and the other days cool and breezy. It has nice area views and would be pleasant for a drink in better weather. The location is ideal for exploring the French Quarter, a short stroll from the Charleston City Market and plenty of restaurants. If we return to Charleston, this will be our usual place to stay.
