We chose The Waterway because of its no-children, no-pets, no-smoking policy. We wanted somewhere peaceful where doing absolutely nothing felt like the plan, and with most guests out exploring, the property often seemed to be ours alone. It was perfect for that. Our room was clean, with a very comfortable king bed and a private balcony overlooking the pool and water. The views were amazing. The property itself is quiet, beautiful, and full of art. Rob and Zack made us feel so welcome. Rob started breakfast with whichever coffee drink we wanted, then Zack cooked to order from plenty of choices. We especially liked the homemade South African sausage. We also had some great conversations with Rob about his family history, business ventures, and travels. Zack worked hard to keep everything immaculate, indoors and out. The orchids he grows were especially memorable, with all their different colors and patterns, and they were lush and breathtaking. The grounds and views are spectacular, and the room was lovely, with a comfortable mattress and a big balcony. Rob and Zack were welcoming and knew the area well. We appreciated being offered refreshments when we arrived. Breakfast was delicious every morning. There were lots of made-to-order choices, including Zack’s custom omelets with African sausage, plus espresso. Ask Rob about his new wine cellar. If you want a place that feels close to perfect, stay at the Waterway. I’m sure you’ll have a fabulous time.

Our hot breakfast had several choices and was delicious. We also enjoyed talking with Zach, and followed his suggestions for a couple of places to eat. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished, with a lovely river view. Waterway is a wonderful B&B just outside Charleston, and I highly recommend it.

The hosts were gracious and helpful, especially with recommendations for making the most of a Charleston visit. Breakfast was a generous full meal, cooked to order each morning just how you asked. There were spacious rooms and comfortable spots indoors and out to sit back and enjoy the scenery. The setting is gorgeous, with great views of the inner waterway, and everything feels peaceful and relaxing. This is a distinctive B&B experience and one of the best you could have. We spent our anniversary at Waterway and had a lovely time. The home and grounds are beautiful, with water views from the rooms. Rob and Zach were warm, gracious hosts, and breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed chatting with them and with the other guests. We highly recommend Waterway and hope to return.
