Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Charlotte I-85 Airport, NC

I've stayed here regularly for years, and I've always liked the rooms, the clean and accommodating service, and the location near both a food Lion and a 7-Eleven. I've never met an unpleasant person here, and the people really make a difference at a hotel. This year, Sebastian at the front desk stood out. He was professional, respectful, and showed integrity I don't always see at hotels around Charlotte. Tyrell is also an awesome manager. I'll be back at the end of March and beginning of April, and I hope to see Sebastian again.

The refrigerator was very cold, and my water was nice and cold in the morning. We also made sure all the pillows were there. The rest of the stay was frustrating. At check-in, staff couldn't find my reservation through Booking.com, even though it was booked, paid for, approved, and confirmed. We waited over 35 minutes and had to call Booking to get it sorted. The tub was so high that it was hard to get into, and its floor felt like it might cave in. In the morning, someone knocked despite the Do Not Disturb sign and asked how many pillows we had. I've traveled a lot and never had the front desk come around asking that. When I called, the woman was rude and said, “people steal the pillows so we have to ask.” If they have to worry that much about pillow theft, this doesn't seem like somewhere people should frequent. I don't recommend it. They should retrain the staff and fix the place up.

The smell of weed throughout the whole place was horrible, and the door alarm kept going off. Our room wasn't cleaned at all during the four nights, despite asking both the housekeeper and front desk. The room wasn't clean to begin with: no toilet lid, a broken light switch, and sheets and towels that didn't feel clean. The kitchen staff were unfriendly and wouldn't answer when we said good morning. If you want a clean, neat, relaxing stay, don't come here. It was my worst hotel experience.

The cleaning staff were loud all day, talking on speakerphone in the halls and yelling to each other from different rooms. They didn't clean our room, even though we left a morning sign asking them to. The bright spot was the staff: management responds quickly to issues, and Jeremy and Sebastian at the front desk were especially kind, patient, and warm at check-in and checkout. I came by to give those two young men credit. They deserve the highest praise.
