Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Charlotte/University Place

I'm glad we booked only one night. The whole building smelled like cigarette smoke, the room had damage, and I wasn't sure it had been cleaned properly. It didn't feel safe either. The safe was locked when we arrived, the deadbolt didn't work, the closet was missing a door, there was no phone, and some wall art was missing. The free breakfast was pretty boring. This stay was disappointing, though I guess you get what you pay for.

The noise was awful. People outside were around at all hours, and the guests next door yelled and screamed all night. After calling the front desk four times over five hours, I had to call the cops. The rooms were dirty, with stains on the walls and an unclean shower floor, so I was afraid to touch anything. I went straight to Walmart for cleaning supplies, and the towels were stained too, so I bought those as well. The furniture was old and dirty, there was no fridge, and there were water spots on the ceiling. The photos are very misleading. This place needs to be shut down. It was one of the worst properties I've stayed in, and I only stayed because Expedia wouldn't refund me. People claim the higher ratings are fake, I'm sure.

I stayed here six years ago and remember it as small but nice. It hasn't been kept up since then. The low-flow toilets barely flush, and they used to make fresh waffles but now serve Eggos. Overall, it isn't worth it.

The rooms aren't in great shape, and I asked for a queen but got a full-size room instead. The housekeeping woman was rude and barely understood English. You have to bring your dirty towels out to get replacements, and you can't leave garbage outside the door for staff to collect like at other hotels. There were also people lingering outside, sitting in cars and blasting music with beats.
