Sonesta Charlotte Lower South End

We had a missed connection and stayed one night. The roomy double queen was quiet, and the beds were really comfortable. The heating and cooling unit was rather obnoxious, though it wasn't running much of the time. Staff were really friendly, the shuttle was convenient, and breakfast had decent options. We also enjoyed waiting in the large lobby, with its many chairs and couches.

The building shows its age, but the remodel is decent. I was glad to have an indoor pool and weight room, and it's dog friendly too. I worried a bit when I realized that at check-in, but the rooms were cleaner than average, with no smells or stains. Four out of five.

The pool was extremely cold, but we'd still definitely stay again. The staff were very accommodating, and they welcomed our full-size German Shepherd without any trouble. It's pet friendly with no weight restrictions. The hotel is in a great location and is very nice, though I'd give cleanliness a nine out of ten since the room walls could use a better scrub. The Bard restaurant in the hotel is nice, with reasonable prices and a limited but good food selection. Having Starbucks in the hotel is a plus too.

The lobby, bar, and event space looked beautiful, and the desk staff were very nice and accommodating when we asked for a private meeting room for an event. The rooms were a different story. Across our four rooms, the beds were clean, but carpets were stained and torn, dirty towels were left in one bathroom, and we had to get replacements at the desk. One sofa was so stained I wouldn't put my bags on it. We asked for vacuuming, but it never happened. One room had a dog, which made me hesitant to let my own dog on the floor. The staff were nice, but cleanliness and comfort matter more to me. Kudos to Brandi, though.
