Golden Green Hotel - Charlotte

Daniel tosh was great, and the place next door made it easy to catch the show. The hotel itself was one of the worst places I’ve stayed. The bathroom ceiling leaked, the AC made a comically loud knocking sound, and the parking garage looked like it was falling apart. It needs a complete remodel, millions of dollars’ worth of work to bring it up to standard, and I honestly don’t know how they’re legally able to stay open. They charged me 96 bucks for the night.

The rooms were clean and bug-free, and the staff were genuinely hospitable. It’s a little vintage, but my family and I were comfortable, slept like babies, and found it quiet both day and night. For what we paid, it was worth it. I’d read some bad reviews and felt uneasy about booking, but those worries went away once we arrived. We had a fun time in Charlotte. There’s also a ghost story, which I found interesting, whether spooky or cool. Elvis Presley rented the entire 8th floor multiple times when he visited the city, and those rooms are open to the public now. How cool is that?

I came for the weekend after an issue with Greyhound, and the staff accommodated me and my service dog. Since my job had me in the area, I then tried to pay the weekly rate, but the owner refused to let me book for the week because of my service dog. I consider that discrimination. The AC in my room didn’t work, and one night the power went out after a car hit a power line. They did nothing to make up for the outage or the AC problem. There was also water leaking from a pipe right inside the front door. The staff overall were pretty good, apart from the owner.

The photos gave me the impression this place was clean and nice, but the rooms smelled like cigarettes and the bathrooms had mold. The mattress was dusty and dirty. A drunk man stood outside my door and wouldn’t leave, which left us stuck and scared, and security did nothing about it. It was nothing like I expected. I’d give it a negative star if I could. Save your money, I don’t recommend staying here.
