I asked to speak with a manager because guests shouldn't be treated badly for canceling when the place feels dirty and uncomfortable. The front desk attendant got an attitude when I explained why I wanted to leave, and didn't seem to care that I had checked out after only about an hour. Staff were often scrolling on their phones or taking cigarette breaks instead of deep cleaning. I hope anyone who has to stay here finds a better option. My dog wouldn't sleep here with how nasty it was. I booked thinking this was an extended-stay hotel. I checked in around 4:20, took photos and videos, and found the first room dirty, as if they only changed the linens. The hotel is supposed to be smoke-free, but the second floor and my room reeked of smoke. I clean my hotel room before staying, but didn't want to be charged for that smell. The front desk attendant, samya, moved me to the third floor. Its hallway smelled so bad I didn't want to carry my things through it. The TV in the second room didn't work, and I didn't feel comfortable staying without buying my own bedding. I was worried a roach might show up or that I'd hear fighting late at night. There were blood stains on the hallway walls. After leaving, I called Studio 6 to ask for a refund. They said the physical property would contact me about my complaint, then referred me back to the front desk. Because I was stuck in traffic, about 25 minutes passed before I could explain why I didn't want to stay, but I called as soon as I left. They said I had been there for two hours. I believe the cameras would show I spent about 45 minutes in the rooms.
There isn't an airport shuttle, so an overnight layover can cost more than you'd expect. The front desk woman was great and really helpful, but the accommodation itself was awful. Baby roaches were on the kitchen floor, and the walls, floor, and sheets were stained. I checked the mattress for bed bugs and found lots of crumbs, but no bugs, at least. The hotel is meant to be nonsmoking, yet the whole place smelled like cigarettes. I wouldn't stay again even if they paid me. I'm not trying to be rude, the staff were lovely, but I have to be honest.
The kitchen is what makes this place feel like home to me. There's a full-size fridge, a small microwave, and a stove with an oven, which is especially nice since I like baking and cooking for myself. I also prefer that room service isn't required. I can clean my own space, wash my linens, and buy my own essentials. The on-site laundry room is small but always clean and well kept, which makes frequent laundry days easier. I moved to Charlotte six weeks ago as a single mom looking for a fresh start, and this has been the in-between place I needed while settling in. The staff are friendly, and I've had no issues since arriving. The decor looks dated and shows some wear, but everything works. My room feels like a studio apartment, which has helped me feel better about my current living situation. It's tucked away but still within driving distance of everyday necessities. The area feels safe, and the building is secure. I'd recommend this ESA location if you're visiting Charlotte or between homes.
The location is awesome, with expensive hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers nearby. The customer service is okay, and they do their best to work with you. But the place is uncomfortable, and I'd only suggest it if money is tight and you need somewhere fast. My suite is huge, with an oven and stove, and the bed is comfortable, so that's the good part. The hall carpets are filthy, there aren't enough towels, and the hallways smell really sour. The Wi-Fi keeps cutting in and out, the TV stopped working, the phone lines don't work, and the pictures online looked nothing like my room. The pullout couch is hard and has no linens, and the hot water isn't very hot. I'm stuck here for a week over Christmas, so I'll make the best of it. Stay at your own risk, and happy holidays.
Mario's kindness made a big difference to my stay. He was helpful and encouraging, and greeted me with the grace and empathy I needed. Extended Stay could use more people like him, especially for guests who aren't here on vacation and may have no other choice.
