Holiday Inn Charlotte Airport by IHG

The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable, with a very nice bed and everything working as it should. The staff were kind and helpful, and the lobby and restaurant were pleasant places to relax. There are also good food choices nearby. I only stayed one night at the Holiday Inn Charlotte-Airport Conference Center, and the free shuttle made the short trip from the nearby airport easy. A very good option for a comfortable stay close to the airport. I’d come back.

The pickup was the weak point. I texted for the shuttle after flight trouble and was told it would come, but after 20 minutes in bitter cold and a stiff wind, I gave up and took an Uber. When I reached the hotel, both shuttles were parked outside and unused. In the morning, the shuttle to the airport was good, and I learned it serves this hotel, Home2Suites, and the nearby Hampton Inn. Check-in took about 30 minutes after the Uber drop-off. The desk receptionist was alone and busy with other arrivals. The rooms were dated, but clean and functional, including the bathroom. I do miss having bars of soap for shaving. It’s not a bad place, but don’t count on a quick airport pickup.

The airport is very close, and the staff were nice and just doing their jobs. Still, the way this place is run felt pretty stingy. There’s no microwave in any room, and housekeeping won’t restock or clean unless you ask the front desk yourself. Parking costs extra, and even though we booked breakfast, we had to go ask the desk for vouchers before we could enter the dining and coffee area. Those were the most frustrating things, though we noticed other cheap-feeling details too. This was the most disappointing Holiday we’ve booked.

There’s a restaurant on site with tasty food, so you don’t need to head elsewhere for a bite. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is just down the road from the airport with shuttle service. Highly recommend.
