Omni Charlotte Hotel

The city view was beautiful, and the valet team were professional, welcoming, and attentive throughout. Every staff member we met was sweet and helpful. Dominique kept checking in whenever we passed the front desk to see if things were going well or if we needed anything. A special thanks to Joe, who helped with our luggage, answered questions, and made the stay easier. On departure day he brought our belongings downstairs and carefully loaded them into my car, which I really appreciated. We were there for my daughter’s 16th birthday, and Ms.Dominique made a point of acknowledging her. That made her feel special and the occasion even more memorable. From arrival to checkout, our stay at the Omni Hotel in North Carolina was amazing and exceeded our expectations. We couldn’t have asked for a better visit and would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to the area.

Clarissa, the manager, was supportive and attentive as she handled my concerns during booking. Dominique also kept the leadership team informed about any issues. I’m grateful for the staff’s wonderful customer service and kindness. They made my experience truly great.

My son and I chose this hotel for a one-night boys’ night out, and it was a good call. The room was huge and clean, and the front desk staff were really friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great stay. We can’t wait to come back.

Management and front desk staff were very welcoming and accommodating at check-in and checkout, which helped make up for some of the problems. There’s a Starbucks and Walgreens in the lobby, and the location is convenient to the financial and entertainment districts. Still, the property felt dated and worn compared with newer Omni hotels, especially those in the DFW area. My colleagues had much the same impression. It seems to depend more on location than hotel quality. The room layout and décor disappointed me. Unlike the lobby, it didn’t have a modern look. The space felt cramped and worn. The city view was nice at night, but street noise was a major issue: a light rail horn sounded every 15 minutes, along with frequent noise from street activity, including fights and loud vehicles. The bed was comfortable, but the comforter was too thick and warm for the climate, and I kept waking up. The room and hallways smelled musty, the vents had visible layers of paint and grime, and the air didn’t feel fresh. The curtains looked worn as well. The bathroom was the biggest aggravation. Its dated layout puts the toilet in the middle of the space, and the door swings into it with almost no clearance, blocking access to the sliding glass shower doors. The door could snag a floor towel, so there wasn’t room to lay one properly. Getting into the shower meant maneuvering around the toilet, shutting the door, putting down a towel, and shifting again to reach the shower. That was especially awkward with wet feet on tile. The shower itself was an adequate size, but stained grout raised cleanliness concerns. Water temperature swung often from very hot to very cold, likely due to pressure changes from other rooms. The toilet flushed slowly and the water rose high enough that I worried it might overflow. The bathroom door looked decades old, with thick, uneven paint over the hinges and hardware. The carpet felt sticky, and after showering I found long black hairs stuck to my damp feet and had to wipe them off. The closet and refrigerator cabinet doors sagged or were poorly cut, making them hard to close. They didn’t feel like proper hotel furniture. Some outside light came through the curtains, and fully closing them was awkward because the desk and TV unit span more than six feet across the window, making the sides hard to reach. The outlets weren’t easy to find. The lamps had no built-in outlets or USB ports; outlets were hidden along the table sides and under the desk. One bedside outlet faceplate was broken, and the beds sit so close to the nightstands that charging cords can get pinched. The iron heated and steamed well, but its nonstick surface was chipping. The ironing board padding was worn and uneven. The hotel offers nightly drink tickets, a thoughtful touch, though they don’t include alcohol. My room had two bottled waters on a glass shelf, but its light was burned out. One bottle had been opened already, looked cloudy, and wasn’t filled to the same level as the other, so I threw it away to be safe. I might stay again for convenience, but I’d look at other options first.
