The Residences At Windsor

The washers and dryers were brand new and worked great, and my room was very clean. I was staying here through a program and didn't follow all the rules, so I was asked to leave. The main problem I saw while living at the Windsor was trash all over the parking lot. The residents were often messy and didn't clean up after themselves, leaving staff overwhelmed by the mess and damage. Management was trying to remove a few residents who hadn't paid rent in months. Once those people are gone, this could be one of the best places in Charlotte, NC.

I've lived here a little over two years, and it's never been in this bad a state. The grounds are always littered, the laundry room stays dirty, people's belongings have been stolen, and the Wi-Fi doesn't work because someone is copywriting off the Internet. The place doesn't look like its website photos. Today I saw used mattresses being unloaded from a Penske truck for the rooms, and some still had sheet sets on them. The front has rent signs for studio apartments, but the rooms have no kitchenette setup, just regular, overpriced hotel rooms. Homeless people sleep in cars on the property and nothing is done. Take your money somewhere safer and cleaner.

The gym was the one thing I liked, though I wish it stayed open 24/7. It only opens during front desk hours because a few bad tenants spoiled it for everyone. Beyond that, there are loose cats around, the walls are thin, and balcony-room neighbors can be loud outside their doors. Only two or three of the roughly five washing machines work reliably. The rooms have become much more expensive, to the point where a real apartment seems like better value for what you get. I've been here since 2019 and have seen at least four landlords come and go, without feeling any of them cared or could be trusted. Some staff were rude, too, and wouldn't even greet me at the desk. There are serious bug problems, and pest control seemed clueless or uninterested. My AC stayed broken for months with no urgency to fix it, which finally pushed me to move out. I'm also still trying to get back my $500 security deposit after several attempts. I once left a positive review, but only because the landlord at the time promised me a rent discount for doing so. I don't recommend this place.

The location is just right, but that's the only positive I can give this rental property. I saw police coming in and out while I was there to check it out after spotting an ad for the Residences at Windsor. The place looks run down, the laundry room isn't somewhere I'd want to wash clothes, and there were people arguing while kids ran around unsupervised.
